Dr. Cassady joined the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas as an Assistant Professor in August, 2000. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005 and to Full Professor in 2008. In 2006 and 2007, he held the John L. Imhoff Chair in Industrial Engineering. In 2005, he was named Industrial Engineering Faculty Member of the Year by the Arkansas Academy of Industrial Engineering. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas faculty, he was an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Mississippi State University (1996-2000).

On November 1, 2006, Dr. Cassady was appointed as the Director of the University of Arkansas Freshman Engineering Program. He is the first person to hold this position. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the development and operation of both the academic and student services components of this first-year experience program for College of Engineering Students. This program was introduced during the 2007-2008 academic year.

Dr. Cassady is an elected member of the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy, and he has received numerous teaching awards including the Charles and Nadine Baum Faculty Teaching Award from the University of Arkansas (2006), the inaugural Imhoff Outstanding Teacher Award from the College of Engineering (2005), the 2004 Alan O. Plait Award for Tutorial Excellence from the Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, and the 2002 and 2003 Department of Industrial Engineering Outstanding Teacher Award.

Dr. Cassady was born in and raised near Martinsville, Virginia. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D., all in Industrial and Systems Engineering, from Virginia Tech. His wife, Wendy, is a speech therapist in private practice in Springdale, Arkansas, and they have two sons, Bryant and Ramey.

Gigi Secuban joined the Freshman Engineering Program on May 2, 2007, as Freshman Engineering Center Manager. Gigi has been employed by the University of Arkansas for eleven years. During that time, she has served in several professional staff positions across campus in recruitment, admissions, and student services. Prior to working in Freshman Engineering, she served as Director of the University of Arkansas Multicultural Center. She has also served as an instructor in both Vocational Education and Health Science. She holds national leadership positions in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and she is the advisor for the Freshman Engineering Leadership Team (FELT). Gigi is one of the coordinators for the Honors section of Introduction to Engineering.  She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a M.S. in Health Science/Community Health both from the University of Arkansas. She is currently a doctoral student in the higher education leadership program.  Gigi enjoys spending time with her 3-year-old son, Jonah, as well as cooking and entertaining.

Stephanie Adams joined the Freshman Engineering Program on April 30, 2007, as Freshman Engineering Student Services Coordinator. She serves as the First Year Experience Workshop Facilitator and supervises the Peer Mentoring program.  Stephanie has more than seven years of professional experience in student services. Prior to relocating to Fayetteville, she served for three years as the Assistant Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Ithaca College. She has a wealth of experience in program planning, counseling and mentoring students, workshop development, and collaborating with faculty and staff. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College and a M.Ed. in Adult Learning and Development from Cleveland State University and working toward her Ed.D in Higher Education Administration at the UofA.

Kellie Schneider joined the Freshman Engineering Program on May 15, 2007, as Freshman Engineering Instructor. Kellie holds a B.S. and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering both from the University of Arkansas, and she is currently a Ph.D. student in Industrial Engineering. During her graduate studies, she has had full responsibility for teaching three sophomore-level Industrial Engineering courses, and she has served as the laboratory or drill instructor for five additional freshman or sophomore-level Industrial Engineering courses. For both the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 academic years, she was selected by the student body of the Department of Industrial Engineering as the Outstanding Teaching Assistant.

Heath Schluterman joined the Freshman Engineering program as a teaching assistant in January 2008. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. After earning his Ph.D. in Engineering also from the University of Arkansas in May 2009, he remained with the program as a part-time Freshman Engineering Instructor.
