Freshman Orientation

o Freshman Orientation consists of a variety of meetings, events, and activities over the course of two days. The Freshman Engineering Program is directly involved in two of these events.
Day 1
College Session – Participation in this session will provide the student with vital information related to the engineering academic program and academic support services. This session will be conducted in Bell Engineering by the Freshman Engineering staff.
Day 2
Advising and Registration – After collecting registration materials, students will be assigned to their academic advisors in Bell Engineering.
o Helpful Tips – What to Bring
1. Orientation Schedule
2. For academic advising: Bring any orientation material that the university has sent. Specifically, bring your ACT scores, including the math and english subscores. These will be vital to assisting you in developing your fall schedule. It will also be important that you bring your UA student ID number, UA email address and password. This information will be critical for you to register for classes.
3. Dress casually. It is a good idea to bring a backpack (or something to carry your materials) and please wear comfortable shoes (for tours and walking to meetings)!
4. Water – It will be summer, and as stated above, there will be lots of walking, so bringing some water may be a good idea!
5. Parking is limited on campus, so find a map for the University Transit System. The transit system will take you just about anywhere on campus. Parking information should be included in your confirmation packet from the Office of First Year Experience. If you have further questions, please contact FYE at 479-575-4200.
